#590 - 1963 Renault Caravelle Convertible
Here's a wonderful Christmas present for Dads... with those haunting words... "Some assembly required."
The Renault Caravelle is a sports car manufactured and marketed by Renault from 1958–1968. These are rear-engine, rear-drive, open two/four-seater vehicles designed by Pietro Frua of Carrozzeria Ghia, using the floorpan and engine of the Renault Dauphine. These were aimed at the North American market to compete with the VW Beetle, which was having great success at the time.
Up for auction is a partially restored 1963 two-seater model with a removable hardtop. This car has a very fresh paint job that sparkles. The chrome trim and bumpers are bright also. At this writing, this is believed to be a complete car with all the parts included. It just needs a fatherly touch, through the Winter, to be fully assembled.
