Lot Listing #598 1970 Opel GT
1970 Opel GT in amazing “Barn Find” condition.
The Opel GT was released in Europe in 1968 as the German automaker’s new halo model. Sporting the 1.9-liter engine providing 102 bhp paired to a 4-speed manual gearbox, providing enough to ensure a spritely performance. The elegant design was compared to the similar looking C3 Corvette which in result caused for the nickname “Baby Corvette.”
Compared to the Corvette, the GT was a baby, but one that is not to be underestimated for the price. Compact, low-profile, and with decent power, the 1970 GT quickly won over the hearts of sports car lovers. In fact, these are all the reasons why people still admire it today. Choosing the GT today is a matter of prestige and love rather than anything else. It's more about the design, history, and soul of a classic than power and speed.
This Opel GT is painted in Stratowhite with Kardinalrot red interior. This GT is believed to have 40,449 original miles. Runs beautifully and the drive quality is fun and sporty. This car was sold new in California and still retains its original warranty card as well as other documentation including the owner’s manual. Garage kept and painstakingly preserved; it was recently sold by a 90-year-old Poulsbo resident. Believed to have been one family owned.
A remarkable example is extremely fine quality. Started right up after a long slumber. This Opel would require servicing before being put to daily or heavy use.
