Lot Listing #387 1959 Edsel Station Wagon

$0.00

An old beauty restored to its former glory; this 1959 Edsel Station Wagon is a true gem that has gone through a very extensive restoration with receipts to match. Back in 2012 the Edsel was taken to O’Neil Auto & Marine where it underwent a full top to bottom inspection, from replacing the brakes and wheel cylinders to a brand-new fuel pump, to even a full carburetor rebuild kit, they did everything necessary to make sure the 200 cubic inch, inline 6 cylinder engine would run well and stay running well. A couple of months later it was taken to Main Street Auto where now the focus was the interior and exterior with it being painted in both the factory Talisman Red and Imperial Red colorways alongside the front and rear bumpers and wheels all being re chromed. A year after that it was then returned to Main Street to finish the job with factory replicated seats, headliner and carpet all being installed. Piece by piece it all started to come together, with all new glass and brand new 15x6 wheels alongside the final finishing touches such as speakers to chrome lining on the seats and when they were done with it, nobody could recognize the car. A phenomenal and meticulous restoration that was expertly done to bring back a car that meant so much to its owner, will now live on for generations to come.

History of Collin and the Edsel

Collin Mcginness was driving through Oak Harbor one day when there It was, the embodiment of America, the old innertubes and the trips with family and friends to the lake. This 1959 Edsel Station Wagon just laid there waiting for him to come and his breath was instantly taken. It’s not that it was some abnormal car, it just reminded him of the past, of his childhood and to him meant adventure and fun. He stated that it was a prime example of how far America has come with its innovation to that of when he was a child. Equipped with Fords famous 200 six-cylinder engine the Edsel was about as original as original gets. The price was right, and he ended up buying it right then and there. A couple months into his ownership of the car he took it to Main Street Auto where Rich and Phil stripped the car all the way down to primer and painted in in its very fashionable pink and black colorway. He had brand new factory interior installed, identical to the interior that originally came with the car in 1959. The carpet was then torn up and replaced with brand new carpet alongside the motor being completely tuned up. He states without a doubt he would go anywhere and everywhere in that car. He says he put 65,000 into the car and that Main Street auto did a phenomenal job restoring his dream. It was Connie’s typical old estate car and when he retired at age 75, she walked up to him a pulled the keys out and gave the Edsel to him.
